Ghost series

Commissioned by Relay Design Projects, HAHA Studio set out to explore the aesthetic potential of CNC machining. After observing the faint “ghost traces” left by the cutting tool, the designers decided to highlight rather than hide them. They digitally modeled each piece, defining the structure while leaving the machine free to generate its own surface patterns. Once milled, the aluminium sheets were folded and screwed together without coating or treatment, emphasizing both material honesty and recyclability.

The Ghost series consists of a floor lamp, wall sconce, and stool, each showcasing intricate, maze-like patterns reminiscent of circuit boards or Art Deco ornamentation. The blend of organic curves and precise grid lines creates a dialogue between human intent and machine autonomy. By embracing the imperfections of digital fabrication, HAHA Studio transforms traces of production into a central aesthetic language - merging technology, craft, and sustainability in a quietly futuristic expression.
